Source and note
Source: Etsy listing photo guidance. Reviewed 2026-09-28.
Etsy does not support animated GIF or transparent PNG; transparent parts appear black. The source warns that files over 1MB may fail on slower connections, rather than stating a hard file-size cap. This is placement guidance, not a dated policy change.
Platform image specs are compiled from official sources and source-checked by image cat. Platform rules can change, account types can differ, and acceptance is never guaranteed. If an official page does not state an effective date, effectiveDate is set to unknown and verified remains false.
